Функціональний аспект ритмічної організації поетичного мовлення (на матеріалі сучасної американської поезії)

Abstract

Статтю присвячено актуальній проблемі дослідження ритмічної організації поетичного мовлення з позицій функціонального підходу. У статті виокремлено та охарактеризовано основні функції поетичного ритму. Для переконливої ілюстрації функціонального аспекту мовленнєвого ритму використано приклади, взяті із сучасної американської поезії.

Статья посвящена актуальной проблеме исследования ритмической организации поэтической речи с позиций функционального подхода. В статье выделены основные функции поэтического ритма и предложен научно-обоснованный анализ вышеупомянутых функций. Для убедительной иллюстрации функционального аспекта речевого ритма использовано примеры, взятые из современной американской поэзии.

The article is devoted to the actual problem of the research of rhythmic organization of poetic speech from the perspective of the functional approach. The object of the research is the rhythmic organization of contemporary American poetry texts. Since speech rhythm is an inexhaustible source of linguistic study, which, along with the investigation of the nature of rhythm, its principles of organization, components and parameters, it is interesting for a linguist due to the functions it performs in the poetic speech. Based on the classification suggested by D. Attridge, a British academic in the field of English literature and a current Professor of English, the article highlights the main functions of poetic rhythm and offers an evidence-based analysis of the above mentioned functions since some functions of the poetic rhythm are not fully analyzed in the scientific field. For a convincing illustration of the functional aspect of the speech rhythm the examples drawn from contemporary American poetry are used. The material of the investigation includes the works of such prominent up-to-date American poets as D.A. Powell, P. Gizi, M. Nowak, Myung Mi Kim etc. The investigation leads to the conclusion that the rhythm is a multifunctional phenomenon, the functions of which are not strictly deterministic. In a poem several functions are usually implemented that can claim their systemic nature. Promising to further consideration is the overall analysis of the functions of a poetic rhythm which involves the conduction of experimental phonetic study of modern poetic speech combined with the interpretative analysis of poetic texts.
